According to industry studies on bots, not all digital bots are benign; many of them have malevolent purpose. On several bot markets, hackers sell malware bot logs, endangering your online identity. How does a bot market operate? What is it? Watch the video to learn more.

Bot markets are online shops where hackers sell data that has been stolen from computers. Each bot log sold on a bot market may contain different personal information, such as logins to social media or email accounts or bank account information. How do the bots get made?

Data stolen from a user’s device by malicious software is what bot logs or bots are all about. The victim’s digital identity is created using all of this stolen data. It is referred to as a bot because of this. The victim is frequently unaware of the theft.

Malware behaves like a seasoned burglar. Every valuable piece of information you own could be extracted, including browser cookies, digital fingerprints, logins, and autofill data. The virus may even capture a screenshot of your computer.

Following the theft, the software transmits the stolen information to a hacker, who subsequently posts it to a bot market. Within minutes, a victim’s online identity might be sold on the internet. Blockchain is the sole method of payment in bot markets. Only cryptocurrencies, no credit cards or banks. That is obviously done to protect everyone’s anonymity. What number of bot markets exist? Three of them: 2Easy, Genesis, and the Russian market, are the subject of the investigation.

The precise number of bot markets selling stolen data is yet unknown. The majority of bot markets need either a sign-up fee or an invitation from a fellow community member. Therefore, getting to them is not that easy. Bot marketplaces pose a significant risk to your security, thus we don’t advise using them.

This week’s cybernews discusses the payout of 391 million dollars that Google will have to make in order to settle multiple lawsuits in 40 states across the U.S.

It all started in 2018 when a report from The Associated Press revealed that Google recorded users’ location. Even after they specifically turned this setting off. According to Forbes, “While Location History settings were off by default, Web & App Activity, a separate setting, was automatically switched on when users set up their Google account.” Because of the misleading tracking practice, the company will have to pay a class-action lawsuit. People in 40 states across the U.S. will share the 391.5 million dollars.

What was Google’s reaction? According to Reuters, Google will be “making updates in the coming months to provide even greater controls and transparency over location data.”

Obviously, the company wants to fix its wrongdoings.

Google spokesperson Jose Castañeda said, “Consistent with improvements we’ve made in recent years, we have settled this investigation, which was based on outdated product policies that we changed years ago.” Google has just learned a very expensive lesson. And the lesson that users can learn is that online privacy is a serious matter. Most popular cybersecurity myths BUSTED!

The internet is full of cybersecurity myths that can put you at risk. In this video, a cybersecurity expert debunks cybersecurity myths so you can feel safe when surfing the web. Check out this video and find out how much you know about cybersecurity! Grab NordVPN here!

***

00:00 Intro
00:18 Shady websites
00:35 Smartphone security
00:51 Using an antivirus
01:09 Malware on your computer
01:29 Hackers won’t target me
01:55 Passwords

***

How much do you know about cybersecurity? Let’s test it!

6 Cybersecurity Myths Busted

1. Myth: I never go to shady websites, so I’m not at risk.

Busted: Hackers don’t need to rely on your browser to attack you. Many malware attacks are initiated when the user clicks on a suspicious link in their inbox.

2. Myth: I’m completely safe on my smartphone.

Busted: Unfortunately, you’re not. Does your device have anything resembling an operating system? Then it can get hacked. No matter what the device looks like.

3. Myth: My antivirus has got me covered, so I don’t need to worry

Busted: Using an antivirus is great! But unfortunately, viruses are not the only threats online. Social engineering attacks can do just as much damage.

4. Myth: I know my computer and would notice if it were infected.

Busted: A lot of malware is sneaky. It’s not all flashy “YOU’VE BEEN INFECTED” warnings. It can lay dormant for months until you accidentally do something to activate it. Or it can run in the background for months without ever being noticed.

5. Myth: Hackers aren’t interested in what I’m doing, so they’re not going to target me.

Busted: That’s partly true. A criminal isn’t necessarily interested in hacking you specifically. But that doesn’t mean you can’t get hacked. Cybercriminals usually cast a wide net targeting hundreds, sometimes thousands, of people. Those with fewer security measures are simply more likely to fall victim to a cyberattack.

6. Myth: A strong password is all I need

Busted: Having a strong password is a great start. But it’s not enough, especially if you ever reuse it for other accounts. If cybersecurity is starting to sound like a bit of a headache, I get it. But don’t panic just yet — you have plenty of choices to help improve your online security. For example, using a password manager will help you protect EVERY account you have with a strong and unique password! Meanwhile, an app like NordVPN will secure your device while you surf the net!

Cybersecurity breach? Rumors of Liz Truss phone hack | Cybersecurity News

Was Liz Truss’ phone hacked? Rumors of Liz Truss’ phone hack have been circulating for about a week, and the UK government is pushing for an investigation. But is there any truth to the claims? Check out this video to learn what we know about Liz Truss’ hacked phone and how it could have happened.

01:11 Pegasus software

***

Well, it turns out the victory of the lettuce didn’t end Liz Truss’ problems. Her phone, which held private communications with foreign leaders, may have been hacked.

Citing unknown sources, The Daily Mail claimed that Truss’ private messages with foreign ministers, including sensitive information about the war in Ukraine, have fallen into “foreign hands.”

No other news outlet has been able to confirm The Daily Mail’s claims so far. But the UK’s government is asking for an official investigation.

The publication also claims that the incident came to light during this summer’s Conservative leadership campaign but was covered up by then Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The paper also claims that the agents behind the hack are working for the Kremlin.

What is known, according to The Guardian, is that Liz Truss DID have to quickly change her phone number during the summer months.

If hacked, a phone can be the ultimate tool for espionage. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time a politician’s phone has been targeted. In May, reports came out that the terrifying Pegasus spyware was used to spy on Catalan independence leaders and Spanish politicians. The spyware was also suspected to have infiltrated top EU officials’ phones. You can find out more about it here.

Whether or not the ex-Prime Minister’s phone was hacked, this is still a great reminder that the security of your phone is just as important as your computer’s.

Stay safe everyone.

How to Set Up a VPN for Apple TV | NordVPN

💥NordVPN + Threat Protection | Get EXCLUSIVE Threat Protection FREE💥
💪 Get powerful privacy, security, AND malware protection for 6 devices 💪
CLICK HERE – Exclusive YouTube offer: https://go.nordvpn.net/aff_c?offer_id=658&aff_id=59

How to set up a VPN for Apple TV? To use a VPN on your Apple TV, you’ll need to install it using a method that supports Apple TV. A VPN such as NordVPN works on plenty of devices, but with Apple TV it can get a bit tricky.

Apple TVs don’t support VPN software. Yet it doesn’t mean you won’t be able to protect your Apple TV with a VPN connection. Watch this tutorial and find out how to set up a VPN for Apple TV.
***
Contents of the video:

00:00 Intro
00:20 Why a VPN for Apple TV is important?
00:37 The benefits of a VPN on Apple TV
00:57 How to set up a VPN on Apple TV
02:13 Outro

***
No one would want their Apple TV to be hacked. This video will tell you how to set up a VPN, or a
virtual private network, for Apple TV and protect it from all possible threats.
Many people may wonder whether a VPN for Apple TV is necessary because, with a TV streaming
service, no one is browsing through dangerous websites or installing malicious software.

Well, it doesn’t matter how much security Apple promises. Apple TV could still be prone to hacker
attacks. A VPN comes as a solution. It will protect you from unexpected intruders. Also, a VPN will
guard your personal data by creating a secured virtual network. Last but not least, with a VPN, you will
have better streaming options!

So how to set up a VPN on Apple TV? We recommend using NordVPN because it’s simple, it’s
user-friendly, and it’s the fastest VPN on the market.

Even though Apple TVs don’t support VPN software, you’ll have a few options to set it up.
Number one is installing a VPN on your router. The process may vary with different routers, but in most cases, you’ll have to find your router’s IP, login, and configure the router for a VPN connection.

Number two is setting up a VPN using smart DNS, or Smart Domain Name System.
It might seem a bit more complicated than the first method, but the steps are rather simple too:

First, connect your device to the same network that you use for Apple TV. Then allowlist your IP
address on your VPN account profile. It’s very simple. You’ll just need to connect to your account and activate SmartDNS. Now go to the “General” section on your Apple TV and click on “Network.”
Click on Wi-Fi at the top and select your network. Choose “Configure DNS” and then click “Manual.”
Enter the SmartDNS server address provided by your VPN service. Good to go!

SmartDNS has its benefits, such as better streaming options. Yet it won’t protect you the way a VPN would. So we recommend sticking with the first method and installing a VPN on your router. Do you have any questions? Feel free to ask them in the comments.***
